Collection Agencies

I have a lot of collection agencies calling my house

None of them calling for me  (other than the one collecting on behalf of Blue Power)

They call for Lee Beauchamp, Clive Faubert but mostly for Tanja Young.

I have called all of the collection agencies back to "deal with them".  The one that was calling for me, after months of dealing with the issue, it has finally been resolved.  I didn't owe anything, it was the company's mistake.

It's settled.

The one calling for Lee Beauchamps, after my calling them, they ceased calling.

The one for Clive Faubert (The guy who lived at my previous address up till 2003.  We moved in 2005 and lived there till 2012.  The place had been empty for at least two years before we moved in.)  I don't get why they are even calling.  If the guy is still alive and they are using his address from 2003, surely this is beyond the statute of limitation, unless it's a student loan.  Anyway I called the company back, they said oops sorry, we won't call anymore, and yet they continue calling.

The ones for Tanja Young.  Very rude people and they keep calling no matter what.  There are several calling for her.  Even writing to these companies and stating that she does not reside with me, has not been living with me in the last 2.5 years, I don't know where she is or what she is doing and please stop calling, they do not and will not stop calling.

Having these bottom feeders calling me everyday, several times a day, leaving messages, being rude to my family is highly annoying.

I pay my bills.  I have an outstanding credit rating because I pay my bills.  I have even paid in full credit that I co-signed for other people who have defaulted because not paying affected my reputation and my score.  I figured I was stupid enough to co-sign and trust these poor excuses for humanity, I deserved the punishment.  I refuse to pay for debts that I did not cosign or vouch for, nor gotten any benefit for.  I think being stuck paying about $30 000 of other people's debts on top of my own is more than enough.  I should not have to keep paying other people's debts, nor should I have to be harassed by their collections agencies for their unpaid debts.

At this point, it looks like I will have to change my number, but this in no way guarantees that they will stop calling.  There is this thing called "skip-tracing".  It's how they call me.  They call me cause I live or lived at the addresses of the people defaulting.  Whether or not I know there people makes no difference to these bottom feeders, they harass and harass.  They don't follow the legislation governing them. (if told they have the wrong number and don't know who they are calling for, they are supposed to stop calling. They are not supposed to have contact more than three times a week and leaving a message counts)  You can't call the cops, all they say is pay the debt.  Why would I pay a stanger's debt is beyond me.  Even if I knew the person, I think the fact that they are not longer in my life says something.

I wish there was enforceable legislation to control these bottom feeders.

My New Phone - Wind Mobile

So I have finally entered the smart phone era.

I have a HUAWEI U8651T

It's my first phone with a Sim card.

Hey now easy.... I never said I was ahead of the crowd. Actually I tend to wait till the prices drop before hopping on the bandwagon.

Getting the phone was not as easy as you would think.

After several years with the same provider, (since 2004) I decided to go with a new provider as they are quite honestly, much more affordable.  I wanted to port my number over as I have had that number for so long, it became part of me.

And that is when the trouble began.  Or misunderstanding which caused more misunderstandings and mistakes after mistakes.

When looking at the phones, I zoomed in on the Huawei immediately.  I noticed that it said pay 0$ down with any plan.

In my innocence I didn't realize there was a "pay before plan" and a "pay after plan".  The "deal" of 0$ down came with the "pay after" type of plan only, as the "pay before" if more of a pay as you go.  Having always been on contracts with my providers and billed at the end of the month, I assumed that by asking for a plan that it was going to be the "pay after" type where I am billed.  The sales agent assumed that I wanted the "pay before" and set me up that way.

I was very surprised when she told me I had to pay close to 200$.  Actually I was so surprised I kinda "froze"  I figured that since I started with the 25$ plan that maybe it only came with the 40$ plan.  When the sales person mentioned the "top up" it never dawned on me since I thought I was on billing.  Note that the $40 plan was going for $29 for a year and NO ONE ever mentioned it to me.

I was kicking myself for not going with the 40$ plan but figure I would just think about it.  Got home and started playing with my phone, setting up apps and contacts.  Changed the background.  Stuff you do to make a phone yours.

By Tuesday I noticed my data plan was not yet activated.  I don't get enough calls on my cell to notice whether or not the phone is working.  I call my provider to ask why my data plan is not working.  She tells me my account is suspended because I did not pay my service by the deadline, which was July 20th, 2012.

This is I got the phone on July 21st.  I think I am on a billing.  I paid 200$ I wasn't supposed to, not they want me to spend even more money to activate my phone.  The woman on the other end of the line has limited understanding of the English language and doesn't speak french either.  I try to explain and she becomes very rude and starts arguing with me.

I was already a little annoyed with the lack of professionalism of the phone machine.  What self respecting company welcomes their client with the phrase "What's up"  and "Let's chat"?  I am not a 13 year old nor do I have the urge to be "cool" to deny the fact that I am a mature adult.  (Mature as in old, not mature as not childish k?)

I tell her to never mind I will just go cancel the service after work.  She cost the company one and maybe more clients.

As I am checking out my receipt, I find a top up code.  I use it into my phone.  Shazam!  My data starts working.

I send my provider an email through their online system.  I don't want to call again, it was much too unpleasant.  I get a confirmation email, saying they will respond to me in 24 to 48 hours.  I want to know if I switch plan to the 40, will the phone be reimbursed?

48 hours later, still no response.  I send a second email, asking when I can expect a response.  To this date I was never responded yet and it has been over 96 hours.

Anyways, not wanting this issue to drag on forever, I force myself to call their customer service line (ughhhh).  After about 30 minutes and many conversations with his supervisor, the agent finally realized the problem, that I was on the wrong type of plan.  He told me to go back to point of purchase and it could be switched over no problem.  I could keep my number and be credited the 200$. (Case # C-9944876)

After work I go to the point of purchase.  I have my receipt but they ask for the box.  They say they have to do a full return and give me another phone.  Cancel and start over.  I go get the box at home and return to the point of purchase.

There are two employees there, one is about to leave.  Turns out it's the one I would have needed as the other one is new and had never done a return.  I have to give it to him, he asked but was given the wrong information.  This caused him to make some mistakes that could not be fixed right away, such as canceling my number rather than having it ported over.  They gave me another number but for all intents and purposes, it's useless as no one knows it.

I have to give it to the guy, he spent about an hour trying to fix other people's mistakes, probably loosing a commission in the process.  When he called to have the amounts credited (there were two amounts, totaling the close to 200$) and have the number ported over, I could see him coming close to loosing it on the phone when they explained to him the mistake on the consequences on the phone number (it would take 2-3 business days to fix, since it's Thursday after 5, it means I would have my number until Tuesday or Wednesday) and they can only get him to credit part of the money (the cost of the phone) and not the whole amount.  Only his manager can credit the balance and his manager won't be on site after 5 until August 3rd, so I don't get my money until then.  (Case # C-9947696)

They also gave me a new phone, a new sim card.  I had to start setting it up all over again (download apps, set ups contacts etc etc....

I somehow also lost some videos I had taken.

**** I will enjoy this phone though, already liking having access to my emails and Facebook all the time.

New Foster Kittens

After a hiatus, I am fostering again.

We have gotten 2 kittens of a litter of 9.  I wonder if they are all the same litter as some look definitely bigger than others.

There were two female cats, monther and daughter.  Maybe they were both pregnant and gave birth a week or two apart.  I know a cat can have a lot of kittens but it must be hard to feed so many.  I figure two moms double the milk.

On top of the first two, there is Fancy, rescued from a dump and two more kittens, Pebbles and Bam Bam.

Anyways, here are some pictures.

Anyways so tell them apart

Charlie is the grey and grey tabby
Coco is the all black girl
Fancy is the long haired calico
Pebbles is the short haired dilute calico
BamBam is the long haired Orange and white

***Update, August 8, 2012.  All the kittens have found forever homes.

Very Sick Kitten and other stuff

Hello All!

I wanted to let you all know what has been going on in my life lately, preventing me from posting as often as usual.

Oh I know I have managed to write up some ranting posts but that is not sharing like I usually do.  (Or is it?)

The first is that for the last month or so, I have been doing different kinds of stuff at work.  I started the second week of June.  It's an accommodation where I am interacting less with the public but doing more of other kinds of work.

I have written my blog during my breaks and yes sometimes during calls (mostly formatting during calls) but now the nature of my work makes it almost impossible to blog between 8-5.  Yes I still get breaks, but during the breaks I don;t feel much like typing and I often have other things to do to give my mind a rest.

I am in the process of being assessed for accommodation at work.  This is only a temporary assignment until a more permanent or long term solution can be found. At the same time I was hoping that this process would give my family doctor a better idea of the challenges I face everyday and might make him open to working with me to find something that works.

Unfortunately, everyone is focusing on the symptoms of my mind and no one is paying attention to the symptoms f my body.  There were a few close calls there but they did not delve enough and long enough to help long term.

So at work I can't post much.  At home I have another situation.  For the last week and a half, one of my foster kittens has been sick and required a lot of care.  I have been lucky in that my daughter has been helping me with some of his care while I am at work and at night (as I really need my sleep as you know).  This kitten (Bam Bam) has been taking a lot of my time and attention that my housework, and other past-times have been affected.

Bam Bam has not been eating well, he's lost weight , we had managed to make him regain some and it was looking well, but he's stopped eating again.    His right eye has an infection that just does not seem to be going away.  You can't see it very well in the first two pictures  but see the 3rd picture.
The infection now seems to be spreading to his second eye.

We have been to the vet twice, he has had subcutaneous fluids once but has remained hydrated.  I have been taught to give the fluids just in case.

He is not as lethargic as he was the first few days.  He was even trying to play with my camera strap during the last picture so most of the pictures I took were blurry.

He is on metronidazole and the drug seems to keep him somewhat better than he was initially.

So Bam Bam :

  • was not eating, not it's hit and miss, we need to start "force feeding him every hour" again
  • was not drinking, but is drinking on his own now so I do not have to administer fluids
  • has mild diarrhea off and on
  • has thrown up but doesn't seem to be doing so now.  We are keeping a close eye on that.
  • was lethargic.  He still has less energy that the other kittens but is doing better.
Our other cats are feeling a little ignored and the fish and hamsters are definitely being ignored.

We fear that we may not save him, we hope we will.

Of course I have not been doing so well.  They asked me how recovered I was yesterday, I gave a grade of 4~5.  I figure 1 is coma, 10 is uber healthy.

So that's what's been going on.

Thanks for reading and hope to come back soon with better news.

Friggin Thieves

I hate thieves

I really really really hate thieves

Oh I abhor them, I abhor them with the passion of 11 suns.

Thieves are the absolute scum of the earth.  You can usually gain so much more from asking than thieving.

Over the years My kids and I have been targets of thieves on several occasions and it's nice to say: "Well you should have been more careful with your things!"  but ultimately, it was those who stole who are responsible.

There would be no need to behave like paranoids over everything is people could just leave alone stuff that does not belong to them.

Seriously!

The following is stuff the kids and I have had stolen over the years   ~~~ but not all as I can't think of Everything.

My daughter:

  1. Babysitting money of about $ 500 that she had saved to buy herself a game system and the balance was to buy gifts for her loved ones. At Walmart, she stopped to take off her coat, put down her purse and forgot it there for a few minutes.  When she went back the purse and money was gone.  I in her purse it had her school ID, showing that she was a kid (14 or 15).  The purse and money were never recovered.
  2. A brand new bike she had just gotten a few days before it was stolen.  She had chosen this bike after years of old second hand bikes. It was on special and I had had a one time payout.  I could not afford to get another one.  (2 other bikes were also stolen that day)  The bikes were locked in our back yard.
My son is a little more careless than the rest of us so he has had more things stolen such as:

  1. 3 bikes (2 new and one second hand)  The two new bikes he had for less than a week each.  One of them was stolen at the same time as his sister's from our back yard.  The other two he left them unlocked.
  2. A remote control truck.  He left it outside in front of our door after playing.  This truck was worth more than $ 100.  Within minutes it was gone.

Myself, I have had
  1.  Turtles, live ones, I left them in a kiddy pool in the back yard, a pool they were unable to climb out of so they could get some sun and exercise.
  2. Bikes
  3. Money
  4. Scooter was damaged, they tried to take it but were probably interrupted, a gas scooter

For many many years we were not a rich family.  These things were gifts were could not afford or that we had saved a very very long time to get.

It broke out hearts, damaged our souls.

Even today, even though I "make more money" we still can't afford much and have to work hard and save for any luxury.

How can people hurt others this way?  How can they live with themselves?

Petcetera Pissed Me Off

I went to Petcetera today and purchased two sample bags at 2.99.  I foster cats and kittens so I like these bags so I can give them to the new home for the kittens and I get a 3.00 coupon.

These sample bags come with a free can.  For the second time, Petcetera has charged me for the accompanying cans.  Last time I realized it when I got home and refused to spend 2-3 dollars in gas to go back and get a refund, this time I checked before leaving the parking lot.  When I saw I had been charged again I went back in and initially, the store clerk and manager refuse to either reimburse me or give me the free cans.  It was processed in the system it was too late.  After much complaining and insisting they accepted to "cancel the purchase" and re- purchase the two bags, refunding my debit card and recharging it (costing me 35cent per transaction mind you).

I wrote to both companies, Royal Canin and Petcetera the same day I came home from the second time.

Well I am happy to say that Royal Canin got in touch with me within the week to find out which Petecetera had been charging me for the cans and giving me a hard time about it.  They plan on contacting the store to explain the situation.

No other form of compensation was offered so whatever.  It's a nice thought but it doesn't give me the free cans I am owed, not does it change how I was treated.

Petcetera on the other hand has not gotten in touch with me at all.  No reaction from them at all about my bad experiences in their store.  Total ignorance.

Petecetera may have some good deals, but I have comparison shopped and many of their other items are double to triple the prices of others stores.

Since they do not bother to contact and say anything regarding this incident, I definitely will stop spending my gas to go to their store when I have other stores I can walk to.

They lost THIS client and I hope many more.
